Concreto, acero y membrana

Colegio Alicante del Sol – Coliseo abierto. Chile 2009
Once again with Marsino Arquitectos, with a new project, this time in order to cover the college outdoor gym, this included the playground and grandstands.

The project is configured by six equal arches, they go to the floor through a change of material, reinforced concrete pillars tangent to the curve of the arch. The arches are organized in three pairs, as shown in the images, by determining three modules with the same surface area.

From the central module I determined a generatrix in space, which allows me to turn copies of the same, forming the torus section. We clearly read how it goes into the ground thanks to the continuity of the concrete columns.

Finally we are able to perceive it as an integral object; membrane, concrete and steel.

Thanks to Arch. Jorge Marsino and our promoter in Chile, Eng. Jorge Roca, we were introduced in the international market, with the first tensile structure installed in the city of Santiago de Chile.

The College, designed by Marsino Arquitectos, needed a roof between two buildings to cover the playground. After a joint effort, we arrived at the most appropriate design for this space.

It consists in a decreasing sequence of tri-rotulated arches, in order to accommodate to the geometry and the movement of both buildings, structurally independent. The arches are supported on two steel beams, those connected to the columns of the building.

This work opened the doors to our now  best market, Chile. We opened an office in Santiago and then  I was in charge of caring for future clients there.
