I was invited by the Scientific Circle of Students of Architecture TUL of the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic of Lodz in Poland, in order to give a lecture of tensile structures, which I offered to supplement with a small workshop. The event was held on May 16.

The lecture was for the students, so I decided to divide it into three segments; some background history and present situation, materials and finally criteria and practical skills needed to realize a meaningful proposal.

For the workshop we worked on a scale model; lycra, wooden bases, wire and rods. The idea is that they can experience the efforts of the membrane and the impact they have on the supporting structure. I did not want to take sides by design, so I asked everyone to propose their ideas. Finally carried out interesting proposals, we came up short time to complete them all, but I think it was an interesting experience for them.

A special thanks to the University, Joanna Kurnyta of the organizing committee and Adrianna Trybuchowicz for the photos.
